One of the original dive shops on the
Island, Utila Water Sports has been in operation since 1988. With our new waterfront hotel just completed, now is a great time to visit our dive shop. As the only dive shop or dive center on the island that offers both SSI and PADI training, Utila Water Sports dive shop is in a unique position where our instructors can help you choose the best course and training program to suit your goals.

Our dual certified instructors have gained greater experience and knowledge, having completed the instructor course with at least two different training agencies. SSI is a member of the World Recreational Scuba Training Council and as such, it meets the training standards set by this international organization.

The Bay Islands, consisting of Utila, Roatan, Guanaja and Cayos Cochinos, lie off the coast of Honduras and fringe the world's second largest barrier reef system.  Utila's reef topography includes walls -- which range in depth from 15 to 100 feet on Utila's south shore and 15 to 3000 feet on Utila's north shore -- sea mounts and volcanic shoreline with amazing swim-throughs and overhangs.  As well Utila's reefs are abundant with more than 300 different fish species and a huge variety of sponges and corals.  Divers from around the world come to Utila for the unique opportunity to snorkel with whale sharks and dolphins.  Utila offers something for everyone.
